Find out how you can support our club and gig rowing on the islands.
Without the generous support of visitors, islanders, local businesses and organisations, our historic fleet of gigs would not exist today for which we thank you. The overheads of the club are just about covered by the membership but the restoration, repair and maintenance of the gigs relies upon fundraising and donations.
On average every 6-8 years each of our older vessels require a ‘refit’ or repairs. This is most commonly the repair or replacement of damaged planks, timbers (‘ribs’) or knees. Being of a traditionally built timber construction, this process is time consuming and requires expert skill which we are very fortunate to have locally. It is a costly process but despite this, with your help we can ensure that they exist for the community and visitors to enjoy long into the future.
